New Beginnings
2017 flew by for me because most of the year was geared towards relocating to Bristol! The photo above was taken a bit of a climb from where I now live, on the edge of Bristol. Since July I've been really busy settling in and meeting new amazing people. Many miles have been driven travelling between Reading and Bristol bookings and I've been planning a bit of rebranding along with a new website (in the works). I never started this business with a clear plan the way I probably should have. I just dreamed to take photos, be creative and capture memories for people. Of course, as I discovered along the way that is only part of running a photography business. So I've taken some time to think about what I want my business to be.
As a result, I've been quiet for a LONG time across all of my social media. People close to me know I'm not a lover of social media anyway, I don't pay much attention to things like my facebook news feed. This is a new year in a new place and I aim to try and blog everything I do and blog a lot of what I did last year. My blog was always meant to be more about the photos, so there may not always be a lot to read in my posts.
I actually captured the view in November and have been trying to dedicate some time to write the words to put with it but I'm not a landscape photographer so kept doubting the photo. A few days ago my exploration of different yoga classes and instructors that would match up to an incredible one I had in Reading (link below) led me to my first experience of a Women's Yoga Circle.
One small part of the session was to select an Oracle card from the ring of cards laid out in the centre of the circle. I've never encountered Oracle cards before but I was told I might select something that would 'blow my mind' - probably in the sense that it would mean something to me like a horoscope can. I don't read my horoscope but I selected a card after running my eyes over a few.
My selection was Sarasvati who is the Hindu goddess of the arts. The card read "Express yourself through creative activities", and in a little book about the meaning of the cards, it said: to play music, sing, dance, draw, paint, write... whether I believe in the card or not I took it as the prompt I needed to write this post and start blogging properly.
I'd like to thank everyone that has supported me in my relocation, everyone who has been welcoming and everyone who has hired me to photograph for them in Bristol. I wish you all the best for 2018, and the best of luck for any new goals or habits you are aiming for!
